P9. Explain analysed feedback for project feasibility
Bellow are the question I received from the panel of judges about the presentation I gave. Bellow each question I gave an answer.
Questions - Are you able to give generic advice (tailor) to the user? When creating this app, my initial goal was to keep everyone in mind to have the largest consumer base possible. Within my app, I plan to have my instructor show how to perform several workouts, whilst they are showing the different workouts, the instructors will be obligated to tell the consumers the level required in order to perform the workout. They will also be advising the viewers to begin with a small amount of weight, these set of advice are approved by many health services and coaches. The application won’t be taking in data from the user but instead, recommend through previously watched workout videos. Within the app, I will also place in different workout categories that tell the audience which is best for which. For example the weights category will say it is universal as all weight workout’s difficulty are determined by how much is being lifted, instead something such as cross fit or calisthenics will be advised for those of ages of 18-35 as it requires the person to be strong, light and nimble which would not be a good fit to those who are really young or older than 35. - Will there be more than one trainer? Yes. As my app wants to cover a large consumer base, having a wide range of workouts is necessary as many people choose to follow different workout regiments. I will be offering 4 different variations of workouts, this will entail that having 4 separate trainers is necessary as each has its own special training. Within the workout categories, you can find each trainer giving their own explication on topics such as training and nutrition as they vary from each workout. The trainer I will be hiring will be certified physical trainers who will teach their preferred workout method such as free weights, weights, cross fit and calisthenics. The consumers will have the chance to view their workouts through videos that can be found in their individual section. - How would you get the biggest audience? There are many ways in which I could draw in a larger audience which would most likely lead me to advertise on social media. One common technique is to advertise through an affiliated company, both companies could use each other's social media to extend their audience reach through each other. This can work by placing video adverts, posters and announcements on each other pages. Another way of advertising is by handing out promo codes to consumers who purchase a product from an affiliated company or share the adverts with a set of friends. All these example have been used by small companies to expand themselves. As the digital market is continuously increasing, having my product tested by popular Youtube bodybuilders can also be a benefit as these people are popular at drawing in audiences who are interested in developing their health and fitness. I would be sponsoring their videos and in exchange, they will be doing videos of themselves trying out the product. Today the market for fitness models on YouTube is big so finding someone to pay in exchange for reviewing the product won’t be difficult. - Could you use simple language for beginners? Using terminology can be a plus as it allows the consumer to feel more educated with the workouts and others who enjoy to workout, this gives them the impression that they are more knowledgeable about the subject and feel more comfortable and involved when talking about the subject of health and fitness. To prevent any confusion for the consumers, I will be placing the terminology with a displayed meaning and short video or image along with it to give a better example. Also placing a question mark button next of the terminology can bring up a short message with the meaning of the terminology in short. To conclude, the first three question are subjects I failed to consider properly for my product and should have been added to my presentation. The last question which was about "simple language" is something I won't be taking in consideration as I would like the consumers to learn about the terms that are known within the fitness community. |
D2. Critically evaluate how the negative impacts of converging technology will be minimised within the proposal campaign
Ever since the introduction of the digital revolution, both the market and consumers tend to change very quickly. This can be seen because smaller companies are always trying to create new products in order to find something that consumers would want to spend money on, once something is found such as VR technology, larger corporate companies investigate whether it is worth to invest in for the new technology. In order for large companies to get the upper hand on other large companies, introducing new technology that the audience has shown interest in is a game changer for the success of the company as other companies will be forced to either develop something similar or find something better to compete. The reason why this could be a disadvantage for company such as my own is because making an app is a big investment for companies, if a new invention or feature would be to come by, I would be forced to either quit on my app or invest into having the same or similar feature. This is because once a new feature or invention has been made, the audience will be looking for other competition that have a similar or better feature, if my app is found without one and then the audience would automatically dismiss my app. This is one of the major drawbacks for companies in the technology sector as keeping tabs on other competition’s projects is crucial for their own success. Competition that has fallen to this is for example Blackberry to Apple, the blackberry phone ignored the audiences demands to have large touchscreens on the moment that the iPhone 5 was launching, today the company is trying to make a comeback it is not very relative in the smart phone market anymore. To minimise the risk of my business failing, I will be keeping tabs on the other similar companies that offer new features and inventions within their apps, doing so will make sure I can maintain my consumers on my app as this is a membership app. For this I will be using market researchers two reports what are the biggest draws for consumers to apps similar to mine. If and app is found to be successful by implementing a new feature within, I will create something similar or improved to create competition between the companies.
As I observed before the changing market can affect on a global way to all products. When technology allowed people to have video on demand for their own pleasure at home, the biggest industries that have fallen because of this invention have been companies like Blockbuster. The idea behind blockbuster is that when people wanted to go and watch a movie, purchasing the movie from a shop was the only option for the public. Blockbuster was also the idea that damaged other companies as it allowed the public to rent DVDs for an amount of time and then return it. All that was needed was a membership with the company any consumers could no longer need to purchase DVDs to watch a movie. With the introduction of the new feature on the Internet that allowed the consumers to have what ever video they wanted on demand, companies such as Hoolu and Netflix, the two companies included all the new movies that people would want to watch on the companies’ website and the consumer would only needed to pay a membership in return. The only change that was introduced was the location that the consumers would need to find their movies from. This technology used by these two companies then went on to be perfected in nowadays consumers can watch the latest onDemand videos on 4K (highest resolution on most screens). Blockbuster amongst other movie rental companies, have ceased to exist in the market. To minimise the risk of my business failing, I will need to keep tabs on new digital markets because in the future there will most likely be in invention that will replace the need for apps, when the moment comes I will be needing to make big investments towards my company to keep it from failing. Changes like those do not come around very often but when they do they tend to change the whole market which can result in the failure of many companies who are not prepared.
Because a large capabilities that technologies are able to reach, governments around the world have placed many restrictions for companies distributing methods. The reason why it distributing methods are sometimes a disadvantage for companies is because of the restriction on companies who want to reach a larger audience. An example of this can be found for example in an American company, if they wish to distribute their app, placing it on the market such as Apple Store or Google play store, the amount of consumers who have access to those two stores are usually western countries such as North America and most countries in Europe. One of the largest consumer base is China, but their government doesn’t allow foreign competition to enter the market within the counties market. Which is also why they have so many knock off apps. The reason I find this unfair is not only for the restriction the government has placed on foreign business and its people, but the fact that Chinese app makers are allowed to sell their product to us in the west. An example of one of their most successful companies used all around the world is Tik Tok created by ByteDance. Many companies have spoken of the unfairness of Chinese companies selling to the world but china not allowing foreign companies to compete against their market for the Chinese consumers. When it comes to politics there is very little I can do as a company, although what I can do is ensure that my app is suitable for as many countries as possible. This would mean that I would need to research all the legal and ethical complications that countries have around the world, doing so would ensure that my app gets the largest audience possible when being distributed.
My last disadvantage for digital companies is the restrictions there are in protecting the consumers personal data. There are many incidents in which companies have lost or failed to protect the consumer’s personal data and have fallen victim to hackers. Examples of companies failing are when the company PlayStation received an attack from hackers and ended up with the consumers having their money stolen from them. Today there are a lot of regulations put in place as governments want its people to not fall victim to these attacks. Companies such as Cambridge Analytica fell under investigation because of these issues, such as not informing how much data they will be storing from the consumers. Today as a company, you are to inform to the fullest their consumer what is exactly that you will be storing on the companies data storage and what intentions the company has from using that data. To minimise the risk of my business failing to protect the data of my customers, I will not be needing to use consumers data for my product. As I want my product to be used by the largest audience possible without difficulty, not storing data will be benefit as there are many legal complications when storing personal data from consumers such as children. I will be designing my app to directly tell the consumer what age Will be recommended for each different exercise, the consumer can then choose to do whatever they want to their own discretion.
In conclusion I have looked at how the negative impacts of converging media technology markets can be minimised with the production of my app.
