P3 - Develop an original story to be told within
a comic book or novel
Title - The series with animals
Plot - Within the comic there will be many different short stories with different characters inside. For the first story it will be a cat who is plotting to leave the house in which it lives, The cat wants to find adventure but along the way it gets distracted by the food the owner provided. The cat soon notices that the food is dry and unpleasant and so decides to pursue the adventure it had initially set on, the temperature outside convinced the cat to not step outside in the end.
This second short story is about a cat stranded outside in the rain, the cat would appear to be sad but then the sun comes out and the story ends.
The third story is about two cats playing tick tack toe, both play until one of them makes a mistake and the other win.
For the fourth story, it is about a rabbit that teaches the reader on how to sneak silently.
The last story is about two characters in the story sneaking out of the house and getting jump scared by another character disguised in halloween.
Narrative structure - There will be different short stories in this comic-book.
Genre - graphic novel, comic
Target Audience - The target audience of this comic is young children, I will do this by showing different stories as this keeps their attention on the comic and the images will be bigger and detailed as children. My characters will be unrealistic animals as this is appealing to young children.

P4 Create a script for the planned story
P5 - Plan the structure and panel layout for the
proposed original graphic novel.

For the cover of my comic book, the layout of the first page appears with a large space as it will have a large drawing with a large title do advertise the comic book. It is conventional to have a large space to draw my front cover, as many other comic books also follow this example.
For my second page I will be having five panels as this page will be an introductory page for the readers. Having five panels can give me the advantage of making large drawings, this can also be conventional for the audience I am targeting as they are those bellow 7. Another reason why I will be using five panels is because I do not require my comic book to go fast pace for the beginning, it is conventional to have many panels on the page when the story is moving fast. Although I will not be needing to do that. On the 3rd page I will also be using five panels as the story on this page isn’t very long, another reason for me to be using five panels is that I intend for some panels to be larger than the others. Using different panel sizes can help me better tell the story, for example if using a larger panel I will be able to fit in larger images such as locations or many characters into one space. If I wanted to use a smaller panel as I showed to have used I can use this to fit in a single character or speech bubble. For my 4th page similar to my previous page I will also be needing to fit in a large image into one space, this is why I will be needing such a large panel. |
On the 5th page will be needing multiple smaller panels because the speed for the reader will be faster as they will need to focus on the speech bubbles. This can help when I need to do back-and-forth conversation. Like my previous pages I’ll also be using a large panel as it is also needed to keep the audiences attention on the images, as evidence shows that the audiences focus appears more on the drawings than the story.
On my next page (6th) also be needing to use the same techniques are back-and-forth conversation and a large image which will be found in a large panel.
On this page (7th)I would be finishing up the store and to finish up I would conclude the story with larger images as I believe that the audience would find the images to be more meaningful to understand the story done the speech bubbles and a number of panels.
On this page(8th) there will be the last concluding part of the story, therefore I will add in many panels with different shapes and sizes. This can help me in the story as having a number of large panels on a single page can help me conclude the story better as it can also help me include bigger images that could contain locations or large amounts of characters into one page.
